dot429 sat down with legendary actress Carol Channing at the Viceroy Hotel in Palm Springs to discuss her 90th birthday. The famed “Hello, Dolly!” star and LGBT icon reminisces on her 90 years of success as a world-class entertainer, artist, and “queen” to the LGBT community. From her greatest accomplishments to her biggest hurdles, Channing opens up and reveals some of her most personal moments, including when she learned that Barbra Streisand would be playing Dolly Levi in the 1969 “Helly, Dolly!” movie. Turning 90 does not stop Channing from continuing to pursue her dreams, and she is doing just that. When she was young, her father told her, “You can lay your life down for what you believe in at any age.” The actress tells dot429 that her 90th birthday wish is to get arts back in the public schools.
