Leo the Hero

The last time I’d seen Leo Volobrynskyy, we were at “Dancing With the Drag Stars.” The Ukrainian-born opera lover was extolling the fine points of the drag performances while gracefully smoking a Capri Light.

He’s a great guy and a good friend — but not the type you’d normally expect to find smashing the window of a burning car with a broken light post to save a stranger’s life.

But that’s exactly what happened early Monday morning as Leo and his friend Justin Taylor emerged from a Folsom Street club to witness a fiery car crash. They sprang into action — and saved a life.

My friend the hero. Who knew?
