What do you do?
I rise each morning and walk directly to my computer, which is about four feet from my bed (a desktop, gasp). Then I spend the day working on Circl.es, my dating website. I build new features, respond to user emails, monitor traffic, and pester people to join. Sometimes I find time to bathe and get dressed.
Why do you do it?
I love building things. I was a Lego maniac as a kid. Now I’m building websites, which isn’t entirely different. I also like the fact that Circl.es has the potential to really help people – without wasting time or being creepy, Circl.es gives people a shot at finding love, and many people have found success.
What accomplishment in your career to date are you most proud of?
I moved to San Francisco after college without a job or any money in the bank. I think I was brainwashed by Scott McKenzie. I crashed on a friend’s couch for the first week. It was a ballsy move, but I found a job, roommates, an apartment, friends, and even a boyfriend within a few short weeks, so I have to say that rolling out of the Montgomery Bart station with all my belongings in tow was the best move I’ve made – in my career and life.
Who has made the biggest impact on you in life so far, and why?
Many people have made a huge impact, but the trophy has to go to the parents. Even when you take out the DNA piece (I’m a carbon copy of my parents).
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Odd But Endearing (Hopefully).
What is something that not a lot of people know about you, but you wish more people could know?
I know how to rave dance with glowsticks. It sounds lame but it’s awesome.
If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional, who would it be?
It would have to be Danielle Steel, for a few reasons: 1) I’d throw keggers in her 55 room mansion in Pacific Heights, 2) I’d enjoy seeing her living in an apartment across the street from Popeye’s on Divisadero for a week (where I currently live), and 3) I’d promote Circl.es through her romance novel empire.
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you?
I’d like to see James Franco in the role but that would be farfetched. Occasionally I’ll get a Toby McGuire comparison, so maybe he’d be suitable. And some of my going out shirts are about as tight as the Spiderman suit, so it works.
Where would you go if you had a time machine?
Definitely back and not forward. Maybe to the Summer of Love in San Francisco. I picture it as Bay to Breakers without all the de-tagging on Facebook afterwards.
Anything else you would you like to tell our readers?
I think I’ve adequately plugged Circl.es. Please tell your friends – sharing makes a huge impact. Thanks for reading and thanks to dot429 for the opportunity to share!
