Chuck Norris is no joke as an anti-gay conspiracy theorist

By Anna Peirano

Chuck Norris: martial arts master, real-life action figure, muse of jokes and memes, and conservative anti-gay conspiracy theorist.

The bad ass Texas Ranger recently posted an article on blasting the current trajectory of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) to work towards an inclusive environment for LGBT people within the organization.

He believes a conspiracy is afoot between President Obama and BSA national board member James Turley, who recently released a statement pledging to work from within to end the ban on LGBT scouts and leaders.

In a series of “Is it a coincidence…” questions, Norris draws conclusions concerning the relationship between Turley and Obama. He asks, “Is Turley working on his own initiative, or has the White House prodded him with perks and favors?”

Lesbian Jennifery Tyrrell, who has become a spokesperson for the pro-gay cause after being ousted from her leadership post with the Scouts, issued a challenge to the actor. She said, “Chuck Norris is clearly out of touch and I’d like for him to sit down with my family and fellow scouting families who support us.”

GLAAD reminded Norris that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney had also called on BSA to accept gays back in 1994, when he ran for US senator against Ted Kennedy in Massachusetts. He said during a debate that he felt “…all people should be able to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation.”

Hopefully this conspiracy theory is as easy to put down as someone on the recieving end of a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick…
