Beyonce writes poem supporting Frank Ocean’s decision to come out

Last week, R&B singer Frank Ocean told the world he is gay by releasing a statement on his blog. In his post, Ocean stated:

“In the last year or 3 I’ve screamed at my creator, screamed at the clouds in the sky, for some explanation. Mercy maybe. For peace of mind to rain like manna somehow.

4 summer ago, I met somebody. I was 19 years old. He was too. We spent that summer, and the summer after, together. Everyday almost… Sleep I would often share with him. By the time I realized I was in love, it was malignant. It was hopeless. There was no escaping.”

Over the weekend Beyonce, a friend of Ocean’s, posted a poem to her blog that she wrote for Ocean, showing her support for his decision to come out.

The poem is superimposed over a picture of Ocean and reads:

“Be fearless. Be honest. Be generous. Be brave. Be poetic. Be open. Be free. Be yourself. Be in love. Be happy. Be inspiration.”

In addition to writing the song “I miss you” with Beyonce, Ocean has worked with artists like Justin Beiber and John Legend.
