Calling all creative types: design contest for American Apparel

By Kelly Craig

American Apparel has shown love to the LGBTA community ever since California passed Prop 8 in 2008. Between producing “Legalize Gay” t-shirts, to carrying BUTT Magazine, to featuring transgender model Isis King, to running nationwide pro-LGBT advertisements -American Apparel unconditionally supports people’s freedom, equality and expression.

Now they are giving you the opportunity to show your own individuality with a new design contest.

No matter your sexual orientation or personal style, customize an American Apparel t-shirt, tank top, or tote bag with text, photo, drawing, paint splatter etc. No need to be a designer or artist either.

AA employees will select a few finalists whose designs will be sold online for a limited time (and score 5% of their item’s sales along with five free pieces of their design for free). Customers will be able to vote for their favorites and the garment with the most votes and items sold will win the ultimate prize: 5% of their sales, five free pieces, plus, their design will go global!
