VIDEO: Politics Panel and the need to “Get Out the Vote”

The Politics Panel at dot429’s annual StraightTalk Conference was comprised of David Mixner, gay activist and author; Neil Giuliano, President of the San Francisco AIDs Foundation, and Sarah Schmidt, chair and spokeswoman of LPAC. The panel was moderated by Brian Sims, who will represent the 182nd district of Pennsylvania when he is sworn in in January. 

Panelists spoke on a range of topics centered around this year’s election, with an overarching message regarding the importance of voting. Watch the short video recap of the panel below.

The annual StraightTalk Conference is a three day event which brought together over 600 attendees for a weekend of panels, networking events, and connecting. The conference was centered around the theme of “Living the American Dream: Open and Free.”

Additional videos of all panels will be released by the end of October. Additional panels included: LGBT in Athletics, Media and Technology, a conversation with Zach Wahls, Corporate America, and an Anti-Bully panel. 

Other highlights included a cocktail party hosted by Johnny Weir, an exclusive film screening of Alan Cumming’s new movie, “Any Day Now,” followed by a Q&A with writer/director Travis Fine, and networking events which allowed LGBTA influencers to connect throughout the weekend. 

Sponsors included the Tribeca Grand Hotel, Penfolds Wine, Titos Handmade Vodka, Logo, and Newfest.
