8-year-old writes letter to Boy Scouts supporting gay scouts and leaders

An 8-year-old boy has joined the ranks of those who oppose the Boy Scouts of America’s (BSA) ban on LGBT scouts and leaders.

In an open letter, they cub scout, identified only as “Frank,” asks the BSA to “Pleese suport gay people more let them in scouts. It’s not like thir evil, they just want to mary the pepel they love. pleese vote egenst the ban. scouts are supost to stand up for peple so why don’t you stand up for gay people? Sinserly Frank”

Earlier this month, the BSA delayed a decision to consider overturning the ban until May, attributing their decision to “the complexity of this issue.” If any change is made, it will likely not be a national policy, but put the power in the hands of local troops to decide for themselves regarding the membership of gay scouts and leaders.

“In the past two weeks, Scouting has received an outpouring of feedback from the American public,” said the BSA’s national spokesman, Deron Smith, in the beginning of February. “It reinforces how deeply people care about Scouting and how passionate they are about the organization.”
