Archbishop of Canterbury attacks gay sex, adoption

The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby is continuing his anti-LGBT positions by calling on Christians to oppose allowing gay couples the right to adopt. He also added that the Bible is “clear” that only married heterosexual couples should be having sex.

All this came in a number of unpublished notes from the Archbishop that are part of his new biography, which include repeated opposition to gay couples’ right to adopt and that gay sex is wrong.

Welby discusses former Tory Cabinet Minister Michael Portillo’s admission that he had “homosexual experiences” as a student.

Welby reportedly writes that it had no bearing on Portillo’s political career, but describes sexuality as a “powerful force” which can lead people “astray.”

“The standards of expected sexual morality are clear.

“Throughout the bible it is clear that the right place for sex is only within a committed heterosexual marriage.

“Interestingly all recent research also shows that the children of such a relationship are likely (not always but often) to be happier and more stable,” he is quoted as saying.

He even argues that people can change their sexuality and sexual orientation. Welby criticized the media for “[talking]as though his sexuality is exactly the same now as then.”

Welby is known for his virulent anti-LGBT positions and has voiced his opposition to England granting marriage equality to all citizens.
