Lesbian cousin of Supreme Court Justice Roberts invited to hear gay marriage arguments

Justice John Roberts has invited his lesbian cousin, Jean Podrasky, to hear arguments concerning gay marriage tomorrow by the Supreme Court.

“I want nothing more than to marry my wonderful girlfriend,” said Podrasky in an open letter.

Podrasky lives in San Francisco and will be joined by her sister, her niece, and her partner of four years, Grace Fasano, in the family section during Tuesday’s arguments. Prodrasky has said that she usually only sees her cousin during family gatherings, but that Justice Roberts is well aware of her being gay and is friendly to her partner Grace.

“¨”¨“I know that my cousin is a good man. I feel confident that John is wise enough to see that society is becoming more accepting of the humanity of same-sex couples and the simple truth that we deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and equality under the law,” Prodrasky stated.

Justice Roberts was appointed in 2005 by former President George Bush. He has been described as having a conservative jurisprudence slant. Roberts recently made headlines when he voted in favor of the Obamacare legislation in an unexpected 5-4 vote victory for the Obama administration.

Roberts also made his position clear regarding a lack of defined sides in the Supreme Court at the University of Texas in Houston.

“We look at these cases and resolve them … not in terms of a particular liberal or conservative agenda,” he said. ”It’s just easier for reporters to say that justice is liberal and that justice is conservative.”

Justice Roberts was also recently petitioned by a twelve-year-old boy who has been adopted by two dads. The boy appealed to the fact that Justice Roberts has also adopted children, and has asked him to consider the meaning of family when it comes time to make his decision.
