Gay people are living in rebellion, says Tony Perkins

Gay people are living “in rebellion to God’s design” and therefore turn to suicide “to fill that God vacuum” says the head of the Family Research Council (FRC) Tony Perkins.

“When you’re operating outside of God’s design, you’re looking for that fulfillment and satisfaction,” said Perkins. “They think, ‘If we just get this title, or we can force society to accept this and call it normal, we’ll be happy.'”

Perkins believes that acceptance is not the answer, claiming that gays experience higher levels of depression and suicide because “they can’t fill that God vacuum in their lives with other behavior.”

The Family Research Council is a certified anti-gay hate group, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

At the end of last month, Perkins made headlines claiming that “if the Republican National Committee abandons marriage, evangelicals will either sit the elections out completely – or move to create a third party. Either option puts Republicans on the path to a permanent minority.”

Perkins and the FRC have notably opposed the LGBT-inclusive Employment Non-Discrimination Act, and encouraged and succeeded in having large corporations, such as Walmart, stop their funding to LGBT-friendly organizations.
