A radical Christian church has blamed same-sex marriage and the push for marriage equality for the Boston Marathon attacks on Monday that left at least three people dead in a series of explosions in the East Coast city.
The Westboro Baptist Church, known for its anti-gay positions and protests against the LGBT community, lashed out on Monday evening against the gay community, blaming the United States’ acceptance of same-sex marriage as the cause of the bombings.
The church also said it would protest the funerals of those killed in the explosions that happened at the finish line of the marathon.
One of those killed in the violence was an eight-year-old boy.
Westboro Church in Kansas then tweeted: “BREAKING: Westboro Baptist Church to picket funerals of those dead by Boston Bombs! GOD SENT THE BOMBS IN FURY OVER FAG MARRIAGE! #PraiseGod.”
Another tweet, referring to the Ellen DeGeneres Show, said:
“Everyone can give a big thanks to the likes of “ª@TheEllenShow in supporting same-sex marriage – THAT is the reason GOD SENT BOSTON BOMBS!”
