American Horror Story wins Outstanding Mini-Series at GLAAD Media Awards

In addition to The New Normal, which took home the Outstanding Comedy Series at the GLAAD’s 24th annual Media Awards in Los Angeles, another of Ryan Murphy’s hits, American Horror Story, won the Outstanding TV Movie or Mini-Series.

Murphy took the stage to accept the award.

Other shows in the race included Hit and Miss and Political Animals.

Just finishing its second season, the show is an anthology series involving a horror setting with a rotating cast that includes Emmy Award-winning Actress Jessica Lange.

The current season showcased openly gay actor Zachary Quinto in a prominent role while Sarah Paulson played a closeted lesbian reporter in the 1960s.

GLAAD “recognizes and honors media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.”

The Media Awards are held in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. The final leg of the season will take place in San Francisco on May 11.
