Tuc Watkins discusses being a single gay father with Marie Osmond

Actor Tuc Watkins says he’s a gay single father on Marie Osmond’s talk show on Friday. The 46-year-old actor played Bob Hunter, a gay man who is married to his partner, played by Lee McDermott on the popular drama “Desperate Housewives.” In the show, the couple was also working to adopt a child.

Watkins explains, “I played a gay man who was married to his husband who was trying to adopt a kid. In real life, at the same time, I’m a gay man trying to have a kid through surrogacy. Life and art imitated each other.”

“When I was young, I knew three things: I knew I was gay. I knew one day I was going to be a dad. Gene Wilder’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was going to be the best movie of all time,” he continues, “and so far I have been right about all three.”

The Marie Show episode featuring Watkins discussing his orientation and his twin boys, Catchen and Curtis, will air on April 29th on the Hallmark channel.
