NYPD looking for men in hate crime

The New York Police Department (NYPD) is currently searching for four men who reportedly assaulted two gay men in the city.

According to police, 22-year-old Kevin Atkins and 28-year-old Nick Porto were shoved to the ground and called “faggots” by the group of four men on Sunday evening at around 5 PM on 8th Avenue near 34th Street in the city.

Porto told DNAInfo he was out “walking arm-in-arm with his partner” when they were hit and knocked to the ground by a group of men in their 20s, reportedly wearing New York Knicks Jerseys.

The couple were both treated at a local hospital and later released.

Police confirmed that Atkins is in a cast with a broken wrist, which has left him unable to do his computer-intensive job in reality television, and Porto suffered a broken nose.

Police are investigating the incident as a potential hate crime.
