One Million Moms boycott ‘Gay Day’ at Disney World

One Million Moms has put forward a new anti-gay statement on their website. The conservative group of moms sent an angry email to Walt Disney World expressing their disappointment in allowing the theme park to hold the unofficial Gay Day, which happens the first weekend of June annually.

“Homosexuals will be celebrating the 23rd anniversary of Gay Day wearing matching Gay Day merchandise, such as T-shirts. There will also be transvestites dressed in drag showing their support for the event,” 1MM said in the email to Disney.

“This event is planned with the intent to expose and desensitize children to this lifestyle by same-sex couples holding hands, hugging and kissing. In short, a Gay Day participant’s main goal is to be seen versus seeing Disney World.”

Disney’s response was that they don’t officially sponsor the event and would not stop patrons from coming into the park based on sexuality.

The unofficial Gay Day at Magic Kingdom is a chance for the LGBT community to show their pride at the park by wearing red shirts. Girls in Wonderland, an event for lesbians, is also taking place that same weekend and LGBT performers and comedians will be performing at the House of Blues.

1MM, who have some 57,000 likes on Facebook and 2,335 followers on Twitter, made headlines when they tried protesting against department store JCPenney after they chose Ellen DeGeneres as a their official spokesperson.

The LGBT festivities will go on as planned, but 1MM is adamant on boycotting the theme park that weekend and ask that Disney representatives take responsibility for allowing the “event” to take place.
