Sir Elton John praises Pope for humility, humanity

Pop cultural icon Sir Elton John recently told the Italian edition of Vanity Fair that Pope Francis “is a miracle of humility in an era of vanity.”

In Italy’s most recent issue of Vanity Fair, the 76-year-old Pope Francis has been named “Man of the Year.”

Although the Pope has been very vocal about his lack of support for the LGBT community, Sir John still praises the most recent Pope for being a “miracle of humanity.”

Sir John explained to the magazine, “Francis is a miracle of humility in an era of vanity.”

He also hopes that Pope Francis will be able to reach banished and neglected groups in society who are in “desperate need of his love.”

He continued his admiration with, “The Pope seems to want to take the Church back to the old values of Christ and, at the same time, bring it into the 21st century.” Sir John also complemented Pope Francis for “reach[ing]out to children, women, men who live with HIV and AIDS – often alone, and hidden away in silence.”

Vanity Fair also had no problem showing their amazement for Pope Francis’s impact on the world in such a short amount of time. The magazine believes he is a revolutionist, stating that “His first one hundred days have already placed him in the category of world leaders who make history. But the revolution continues.”
