Federal Election Commission integrates equality into donation policies

The Federal Election Commission is among the first chief federal agencies to adopt new rules after the DOMA ruling. The organization may now treat political contributions of married LGBT couples similar to married heterosexual couples by legal staff members.

“We’re pleased to see … [a]federal agency taking steps to ensure that the [DOMA] decision is fully implemented and lawfully married same-sex couples are treated equally by the federal government across the board,” said Human Rights Campaign legal director Brian Moulton in a press release.

“I applaud the commission for doing the right thing and acting so quickly and clearly,” said Arent Fox LLP attorney Craig Engle in an interview with the NY Daily News.
