Mélange 2013–San Francisco’s biggest fashion event to showcase in October

0

In previous years, guests have traveled from Croatia, Australia, Brazil, and other places around the world to attend the annual Mélange event—one of the biggest celebrations of fashion and art—in San Francisco. A spectacular fusion of fashion, dance, music and theatre, Mélange is not only a fashion celebration, but an international celebration of diversity in a city known for celebrating the diverse.

Mélange, a Stanford startup, was founded in January of 2011 by Talia Romano, Nick Navarro, and Lani Wyche. The rising company will collaborate and partner with other startups, such as Couture Press and Tea of a Kind, as well as previous corporate partners, including Nicole Miller, in this year’s event. Already, the Mélange project has grown to become an international phenomenon with press presence around the world, finally putting San Francisco on the map as a force in the fashion industry.

For each ticket purchased for Mélange 2013, a meal will be provided for Nourish the Children (NTC) by Nu Skin as part of a charity partnership. According to event sponsors, Mélange and partners have been able to provide 300 million meals worldwide over the years.

This year, designers will include fashion pioneer Jean Paul Gaultier—who will be providing three designs—to local Bay Area talent, including: Jennita Itthi-angku (student designer from the Academy of Art University), Charmosa Swimwear, ATUSSA Couture, Chona Pike, Jewelry by Diana, Trina Merry, and Topher Adams to name a few. In addition, luxury haute couture brand Eric Tibusch, famous French designer of Alain Delon, will also be showcasing two looks on the runway—each look valued at over $20,000.

By uniting diverse partners like Gaultier and San Francisco’s famous transgender bar, AsiaSF, Mélange 2013’s goal is to proudly emphasize its diversity and embrace cultural variety. Sephora, 7×7 Magazine, and other leading partners are supporting this year’s fashion extravaganza with hopes of spreading Mélange’s mission: to celebrate diversity and self-love.

This year’s event will be held at Temple SF in San Francisco on October 19, 2013 from 6-10pm, with an after party at AsiaSF. Tickets are available now at www.melangesf.eventbrite.com and range in price from $30-$250 dollars.
