Actor Meredith Baxter, 66, of the NBC hit series “Family Ties” married her longtime girlfriend Nancy Locke, a building contractor, on Sunday, December 8. The ceremony took place in Los Angeles, California; Locke’s band played at the wedding reception, according to “People” magazine.
“Family Ties” ran from 1982-1989 where Baxter played a lead role, that of mother Elyse Keaton.
Although Baxter had been dating Locke since 2005, she didn’t officially come out as a lesbian until 2009.
This is Baxter’s fourth marriage, and at the time that she came out she reported having trouble connecting with her former husbands.
According to reports, the wedding was attended by Baxter’s five children; the newlyweds exchanged handwritten vows to cement their seven-year relationship. “Now I understand why marriage caught on!” Baxter told “People.”
“I feel like I’m being honest for the first time.”
