Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts comes out

Over the weekend, “Good Morning America” news anchor Robin Roberts came out via a Facebook post, in which she mentioned her longtime girlfriend.

On Sunday, December 29, she wrote: “I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together.”

Roberts, who publically battled breast cancer in 2008 and had a bone marrow transplant in 2012, has kept quiet about her orientation for years. The accomplished 53-years-young anchor published the post on the 100th day of her recovery from her transplant.

While Roberts did not release the last name of her girlfriend, “People” magazine speculated her to be Amber Laign, a message therapist from San Francisco. Allegedly, the two met over a decade ago through mutual friends.

Roberts also posted a picture of her and her dog, KJ, from her recovery in 2012. “Flashback 12/29/12… Hard to believe this was 1 year ago today…when I reached a critical milestone.”

She continued, “Reading this comforts me and I hope the same for you: ‘If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.’ At this moment, I am at peace and filled with joy and gratitude.”
