Russian punk rockers and LGBT art-activist group Pussy Riot have released a new video called “Putin Will Teach You How to Love the Motherland.”

Watch the video below with full lyrics posted beneath.

During a performance for the video on Wednesday, February 19, the group was attacked by Cossack militia, who proceeded to physically harass and assault the activists—throwing several of them to the ground and attempting to confiscate their musical equipment.

In several segments in the short clip, the militia men can be seen pulling a woman by the hair and snatching masks off another member. Throughout, the men appear to use pepper spray on an activist, while some of the others are lashed with whips.

According to the Associated Press, police arrived on the scene to investigate, although no arrests were made.

Only one day prior, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alyokhina, and three other Pussy Riot members had made a complaint against the police, claiming to have been detained and roughed up for several hours at a local police station.

On February 18, following her release from police custody, Tolokonnikova told the New York Times: “By constantly arresting us, they want to deny us any possibility to make a political statement here about how corrupt these Sochi Games are.

“People who dare to speak out are simply doomed to end up detained as a preemptive measure.”
