Fast-food conglomerate Burger King has a craving for Pride.
The company debuted the “Proud Whopper” at this year’s Pride parade in San Francisco, selling their traditional fare in a rainbow wrapper for one day only. The point? Despite its diverse packaging: “We Are All the Same Inside.”
Burger King also produced a video highlighting reactions to the campaign, taken at the San Francisco location.

The “Proud Whopper” promotion and the unveiling of their newly revised “Be your way” brand slogan, “showcases who we are as a company,” says Senior Vice President of Global Brand Management, Fernando Machado. He told USA Today that, “it shows how we, as a brand, believe in self-expression.”
Despite negative backlash from some advocates who see the one-day celebration as nothing more than a marketing ploy to win favor among diverse communities, we can’t really hate on anyone who enters the fray in any way on behalf of equality.
