3. The National Institutes of Health has awarded San Diego University with a $524,403 grant to study the link between diabetes and female sexuality. Previous research found that lesbians and bisexual women are at greater risk of developing type 2 diabetes because “they are more likely than heterosexual women to experience obesity and other risk factors linked with T2D such as cigarette smoking, violence victimization, and depressive distress.” [Read more here]

5. Candy, dubbed the “first transversal style magazine,” brought together 14 prominent transgender women for the cover of its Winter 2014-2015 issue. Luis Venegas, the magazine’s founder, said, “It’s the first time such a large number of trans women have been featured on the cover of a magazine. Is it too daring to say that we’ve made history?
