Los Angeles has a sprouting arts culture with new museum openings happening all the time. Recently it was announced that the much anticipated George Lucas Museum has finally decided on LA as its location over San Francisco.
Star Wars fanatics and super-nerds will be happy to know that the billion dollars taken to built the museum will create a futuristic space in Los Angeles’ own Exposition Park near the Natural History Museum and the California Science Center. The art displayed will include Lucas’ personal collection of art and exclusive Star Wars memorabilia.
“I always thought Los Angeles was the natural place to spread the vision of George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, to make art and creativity accessible and inspirational to the next generation,” Mayor Eric Garcetti said about the new Lucas Museum. It makes sense considering LA is also home to Hollywood and all its movies that Lucas would choose LA for this project.
Expected opening of the Lucas Museum in Los Angeles is in 2021.
