Los Angeles has always had the distinction of being the marijuana capital of the nation, boasting over 930 active dispensaries. Now that California has finally legalized marijuana use in the state, it was only a matter of time that we stole the title from Colorado officially.
High Times is a publication serving the international cannabis community since the ’70s through its offices in New York. The publication’s chief revenue officer Matt Slang said in a statement that “the center of the cannabis universe has moved to California.”
Not to mention last year’s US Cannabis Cup was rejected by Denver officials, as Westerword reported, due to law enforcement’s concerns over “the abundance of attendees in the industrial neighborhood and the amount of public marijuana consumption expected to take place around the venue”. So the event put on annually by High Times was relocated to San Bernardino, Ca near LA.
The monthly magazine plans to officially make the move to LA by the end of April.
