Donald Trump’s entire cabinet looks like the ultimate force team to destroy everything the Obama Administration has achieved. One of the positions that has yet to be filled is Labor Secretary. Trump nominated Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. CEO Andy Puzder who opposes increasing the minimum wage and likes “beautiful women eating burgers in bikinis,” which he thinks are “very American.”
Puzder had many trials and tribulations going through the vetting process because all of his closet skeletons were put on display. He hired an undocumented worker to be his maid and his employees have complained about how they work through break and overtime without pay.
He faced strong opposition from Democrats in Congress because of his past. Yet, the piece of evidence that may have been the last straw was a tape from The Oprah Winfrey Show of Puzder’s ex-wife Lisa Fierstein who was on the show anonymously as a victim of domestic abuse. OWN released the tape to Politico of Fierstein incognito as “Ann” during Oprah’s segment for “High-Class Battered Women”. The tape was disturbing and expressed Puzder’s threats to Fierstein. The evidence especially affected Sen. Susan Collins of Maine and Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, who also didn’t vote for Betsy DeVos.
Just recently, Puzder announced on Twitter that after all the vetting he decided to withdraw himself. This is good news for taking down Trump’s cabinet, but there will unfortunately always be another Puzder-type to fill the spot.
I am withdrawing my nomination for Secretary of Labor. I'm honored to have been considered and am grateful to all who have supported me.
