Lana Del Rey Releases New Single, Mass Pandemonium Ensues

We’re almost two full months in 2017, and so far it’s pretty much straight misery all around. Not that we expected much else. It could have just gone on like this, the gray days melting into each other, the rain pelting, the sound of the world crashing down all around us–if it hadn’t been for Lana Del Rey.

Lana Del Rey, for those who don’t know, is a singer, songwriter, and saver of humanity. She no sooner blessed us with a new video for her single “Love” than the entire internet fell to its knees in gratitude. The lush, Rich Lee-directed video for the single features a futuristic landscape where Del Rey serenades happy teens on…the moon?

The lyrics, tellingly, are about the future. The fact that Del Rey believes there is one has already produced internet comment:

In any case, it’s nice to have some respite from the bitter ugliness that surrounds us each day. Call it escapism, call it fancy, call it whatever you want– it’s what we need right now. Even though it’s all a little overwhelming:

#LanaDelRey stans after coming out of seclusion listening to Honeymoon for the past 2 years be like

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
