Beyonce is the Most Feminist Feminist That Ever Feministed

Beyonce has never been afraid to get down and dirty on the frontlines of feminism. Well, maybe she has, but that was a long time ago. We don’t talk about that time. Not since Lemonade and the dawning of Yonce’s new, undeniably feminist career shift era.

We’ve seen her go, in the past year alone following Lemonade’s surprise release, from feminist Cleopatra to feminist Black Panther halftime performer to feminist fertility goddess, all while managing to look fucking flawless. Are we surprised? No. So the fact that her charity organization Global Citizen has just put out an open letter on behalf of women’s equality in the Trump era, isn’t exactly shocking. We weren’t even surprised by the roster of A list signatures headed by the likes of Jada Pinkett Smith, Madonna, and Hari Nef.

What was different about the letter–if, again, not unexpected–was the vague nature of the regime of change put forth. First of all, Beyonce’s initiative Chimes for Change has the goal of ending extreme poverty by 2030. Awesome goal, but what counts as extreme to the Queen of Pop? It’s not detailed. It’s also dedicated to “promoting justice for girls and women everywhere.”

As usual, Queen B is going to leave us on tenterhooks. But whatever. If it’s a world takeover she’s aiming for, we’ll gladly fall in line. Long live Queen Bey.
